FAQs

  • Pathfinder is designed to complement—not replace—your homeschool experience.

Students attend 2–3 days per week for studios, projects, and community. Families remain in control of their overall academic plan and typically continue core subjects (like math or additional reading) at home or through online programs on off days.

  • Yes—with flexibility.

Students complete substantial work in writing, research, critical thinking, and collaboration through their studio projects. Families can translate this into high school credit as part of their homeschool transcript.

We also provide project summaries and skill documentation to support transcript creation if desired.

  • We do not issue traditional grades by default, but we do provide:

    • Project descriptions

    • Skill-based feedback

    • Portfolio documentation

Optional transcript support may be available for families who want additional structure.

  • A studio is an interdisciplinary learning experience where subjects are connected through a real-world project.

Instead of taking separate classes, students explore meaningful questions and apply skills from multiple disciplines (science, writing, humanities, etc.) as they build and present their work.

Each semester includes two core studios that meet multiple times per week.

  • Students attend campus 2 or 3 days per week.

    Each day includes:

    • Studio learning (project-based work)

    • Skill-building workshops

    • Project lab and advisory

On off days, students complete independent work, core academics, or other activities based on their family’s plan.

  • Yes. Students are placed in a small, consistent cohort for the semester.

    This allows for:

    • Strong relationships

    • Collaborative work

    • A sense of belonging and accountability

  • Yes—though it looks different from traditional school.

    Students are expected to:

    • Think critically

    • Write and communicate clearly

    • Conduct research

    • Apply their learning to real problems

The rigor comes from depth, application, and accountability, not just volume of assignments.

  • Students typically adjust quickly.

    We provide:

    • Clear structure within each day

    • Ongoing guidance and feedback

    • Support in developing independence and ownership

Most students grow significantly in confidence and engagement within the first few weeks.

  • No. Students enroll in the full program (2-day or 3-day option).

    This ensures:

    • A cohesive learning experience

    • Consistent community

    • Meaningful project progress

  • Students who:

    • Are curious and willing to engage

    • Enjoy discussion and collaboration

    • Want to apply what they’re learning

They don’t need to be “perfect students”—but they do need to be open to a different kind of learning.

  • This program may not be the best fit for students who:

    • Prefer fully independent, self-paced work

    • Are looking for traditional lecture-based classes

    • Need a full 5-day academic program

  • Students leave with:

    • A portfolio of real work

    • Experience presenting and communicating ideas

    • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills

These are highly valuable for college, careers, and independent learning pathways.

  • Pathfinder is not a collection of individual classes.

It is a cohesive, structured program that includes:

    • Integrated academics

    • Consistent staffing and mentorship

    • Project-based learning

    • A full student experience

Most families find it replaces multiple disconnected activities in their week.

  • We offer semester-based enrollment, so students may join at the start of either fall or spring semester, depending on availability.

  • At The Pathfinder Academy, students are known, supported, and challenged. We partner closely with families, maintain high expectations rooted in empathy, and create a learning environment built on trust, respect, and growth
